How to create 3D models with an app

3D model creation using Photogrammetry based 3D scanning apps is quite easy and transparent. There are in-app guiding tools in apps like 3D Scanner Pro that guide you along the way. This article also provides you the path to be followed in order to create a 3D model which is life-like, in a stepwise manner.
Step-1: Download the app
Go to the Google Play store or Apple App store and search for ‘3D Scanner Pro’. Click on the app that has a blue icon with a graphic showing words “3D” in it. Download the app (about 43 MB) in your smartphone and pay a nominal fee of USD 5. To make you feel comfortable with the interface and the procedure to make 3D models, there are three options provided by the company:
Option 1- LITE version of 3D Scanner Pro:
This is a free app which enables you to practice the model making with the similar user interface and steps as in the paid app. However, if you want to download the model, you can upgrade to the ‘Pro’ version.
Option 2-
Use the Pro version and practice making few models with it. If you happen to be successful then, Voila!!
If you fail to make a good model, then you can claim your credits back using the in-app feature of ‘Claim Your Credits’. This feature can be deployed within 72 hours of the model creation.
Option 3-
If you are facing any problem or if you have any query, you can directly connect with the makers of the app through WhatsApp. The number is provided in the app itself and in the play store too. The team will connect with you as soon as possible and will do its best to resolve the query.
Step 2: Making the model
Choose the object for which you want to make the model of. The object should be opaque and with intermediate complexity in the geometry. Prepare the surroundings: maintain the background contrast and ensure proper lighting. Now, follow the in-app guide and take multiple images of the object while maintaining proper overlapping. Step 3: Download the model
This is the last step. Wait for some time for the app software to process your captured images through photogrammetry to convert it into a 3D model. The processed models are downloadable in multiple formats like OBJ and FBX.
